Maternity care is at a critical inflection point. More women are entering pregnancy with risk factors like hypertension, diabetes, and advanced maternal age, which have increased by over 150% over the past three decades. At the same time, access to care continues to shrink, with over 35% of U.S. counties now considered maternity care deserts. The result: worse outcomes and higher costs.

Today, we’re announcing new enhancements to Maven’s maternity program to help close those gaps, helping families get care sooner and making every pregnancy safer. This launch marks a pivotal moment to redefine what outcomes-driven maternity care looks like.
Our maternity program has already shown what’s possible when families have 24/7 access to high-quality virtual care, with measurable clinical and financial results across diverse populations. Now, powered by new AI-enabled population health capabilities, Maven is evolving its maternity platform into a more predictive, precise, and personalized model of care—one that learns from every pregnancy to deliver smarter, more proactive support for every family.
Built on what’s proven
For more than a decade, Maven’s maternity program has helped families have safer pregnancies and better outcomes. Families using Maven experience up to 27% fewer NICU stays and 15% fewer C-sections, measured across more than 17,000 pregnancies and supported by the largest datasets in digital maternity care.
These results demonstrate how early, continuous support can prevent complications and lower costs. Each new pregnancy on Maven strengthens that dataset, revealing which interventions drive the greatest impact.
At the center of this progress is Maven’s Outcomes Engine, a data-driven model that continuously learns from every member experience to make care more personal, proactive, and effective. By turning real-world data into timely, tailored support, the Outcomes Engine powers measurable improvements for families, employers, and health plans alike.
Turning insights into action
Our latest innovations combine AI-enabled population health insights with clinical expertise to ensure every member receives the right care at the right time—using patterns across thousands of pregnancies to inform earlier interventions, better outcomes, and lower costs at scale.
Identifying and intervening before complications escalate
Maven’s new Pregnancy Risk Stratification model integrates real-time health data from EHR feeds, self-reported inputs, and wearables to help detect emerging risks like preeclampsia or gestational diabetes earlier than traditional care can.
When a risk factor is identified, Maven activates targeted, evidence-based interventions through a modern, consumer-grade experience. Members receive digestible education, guided checklists, and interactive content to make prevention simple and actionable. These programs span all major high-risk conditions. For example, members at risk for preeclampsia can track key health indicators like blood pressure, manage adherence to medication like low-dose aspirin, and stay closely connected to their care team for ongoing support.
Helping families transition from hospital to home

Nearly one in ten babies in the U.S. spend time in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), with an average cost of $77,000 per stay. Yet research shows that 25% NICU days occur after babies no longer need intensive-level care, often due to a lack of coordinated discharge support.
Maven’s new NICU Support Program bridges that gap. Parents receive personalized discharge plans, 24/7 access to NICU and mental health experts, and ongoing home support to help shorten stays and prevent readmissions. This coordinated, data-informed approach is expected to reduce NICU length of stay by up to 8% and save employers approximately $5,500 per family engaged in the program.
By extending Maven’s support from hospital to home, families feel more confident navigating care transitions, while clients see measurable improvements in outcomes and costs.
How AI and research power Maven’s Outcomes Engine
What makes Maven’s Outcomes Engine unique isn’t just the technology, it’s the intelligence behind it. Every data point, member experience, and clinical insight fuels a continuous cycle of learning and improvement.
With our new risk stratification model, our Outcomes Engine analyzes patterns from connected devices, electronic health records, and real-world interactions to help detect risks sooner, guide evidence-based interventions, and coordinate care more effectively. As members engage with Maven, the platform continuously learns what drives the best outcomes, turning proven interventions into scalable programs that reach more families. These population health capabilities allow Maven to learn from patterns across thousands of pregnancies, improving care for each individual while driving better outcomes across entire covered populations.
For employers and health plans, this means stronger outcomes and the confidence that every innovation is grounded in real data and real results.

Expanding access to what we know works
Maven’s research has shown that high-risk members who engage with key maternity resources have significantly better outcomes:
- Completing Maven’s Childbirth Education 101 Class lowers preterm birth risk by 44% and NICU admission by 39%.
- Attending a Birth Planning Appointment lowers preterm birth risk by 67% and NICU admission by 40%.
Building on these findings, our new Birth Preparation Program transforms childbirth education into a guided experience in the app. Predictive targeting reaches members at the moments that matter most, while adaptive pathways sustain engagement through personalized follow-ups—showcasing how care becomes more precise with every interaction.
Looking ahead
This launch marks an exciting milestone in Maven’s ongoing commitment to raising the standard of maternity care—care that’s compassionate, comprehensive, and data-driven. Our goal is simple: to deliver healthier pregnancies and smoother recoveries for families everywhere, while driving measurable cost savings for our clients.
Because every healthy birth is an outcome worth scaling.
What’s next: How and when these new features will reach members
Maven will begin rolling out these new maternity enhancements in November, starting with select clients and about 50% of eligible members. Each feature will launch in phases to ensure quality, stability, and clinical integrity. During this beta period, Maven’s product, clinical, and data science teams will measure engagement, behavior change, and outcomes to validate impact before full release.
Because several features include AI-enabled capabilities, Maven is taking additional steps to uphold the highest standards for clinical safety, data privacy, and ethical use. All AI models are trained on de-identified, diverse datasets and undergo rigorous review for accuracy, bias, and reliability.
This staged rollout ensures every innovation—AI-enabled or otherwise—is clinically validated, transparent, and ready to deliver measurable impact at scale, reinforcing Maven’s commitment to safe, evidence-based innovation in maternity care.
